Ketu Mahadasha — the 7-Year Vimsottari Period of Ketu

The Ketu mahadasha is the 7-year Vimsottari period ruled by Ketu, the south lunar node. It tends to bring themes of detachment, inwardness, spirituality, and the closing of old chapters to the foreground. Ketu is the other shadow graha, often cast as ominous, but the honest reading is gentler: it turns attention inward and toward what is being completed or released.

What the period emphasizes

Classically Ketu signifies detachment and renunciation, intuition and spirituality, the past and unfinished karma, research and the hidden, and a loosening of worldly grip. During its dasha those areas tend to ask for attention: a pull toward the inner life, a winding-down of certain outer attachments, and an interest in depth over surface often become central themes.

Why there is no blanket "good" or "bad"

Like Rahu, Ketu has no sign of its own, so the tradition reads its period through its dispositor, house and aspects — which is why a blanket "Ketu dasha is bad" is not honest. For some it marks meaningful spiritual deepening; for others a period that asks for acceptance and simplification. It is a lens onto Ketu's themes whose colour your full chart decides.
